Meetings
January 8:
Museum of Printing History curator Amanda Stevenson and Guild member Gordon Rouze will present a show-and-tell and talk on printing-related organizations of interest to letterpress printers.
February 12:
Guild member Joe DeVries will provide members with a tour of the bindery where he works, EarthColor, one of the nation's largest privately held printers, providing printing, finishing and binding services.
March 5:
Museum of Printing History Artist-in-Residence Charles Criner will provide a talk and demonstration in his studio on the history of lithography and the techniques and materials that he uses.
April 2:
Guild member Dan Williams will demonstrate the linotype machine at the Museum of Printing History, and discuss the history of the typecasting machine. We will also view the film "Etaoin Shrdlu" about the last night the New York Times was printed on Linotypes.
May 7:
Guild president Brenda Cooper will demonstrate cynotype printing, an alternative photographic method dating back to 1842.
June 4:
Guild member Suzanne Powney will demonstrate how to make photopolymer plates on the Museum of Printing History's exposure unit.
July 9:
Studio Visit to Quality Printing Company, where Jim Gritzbaugh will demonstrate gold leaf embossing.
August 6:
Guild members Steve Sylvester and Gordon Rouze will provide a presentation on the history and use of Kelsey printing presses.
September 10:
Printing workshop: This will be an open session for Guild members to print their calendar pages for the Guild’s 2012 calendar.
October 1:
Demonstration of wood and linoleum printing by Guild member Armando Rodriguez.
November 12:
Guild Treasurer Kathy Gurwell will present about limited edition fine art printing documentation, reasons why it is done and how to document prints.
December 3:
Guild Holiday Party at the Museum.

January 9:
Artist and Guild member David Webb gave a demonstration of his
technique of making botanical prints from dried grasses and other
plants.
February 6:
Guild
member Suzanne Powney presented a workshop/demonstration of
screen-printing. Guild members participated in screen-printing a
poster.
March 6:
Guild member and long-time printer Steve Sylvester presented a talk on
choosing and locating a suitable press for beginning and aspiring
printers.
April 3:
Site visit to the letterpress workshop of Guild member and long-time
printer Gordon Rouze.
May 1:
Guild "Show and Tell" meeting showcasing members' creative work in
printing and other areas.
June 5:
Printing workshop: Guild members Gordon Rouze and Kathy Gurwell led
members in printing items to donate for sale in the Museum Gift Shop.
July 10:
Printer, wood engraver and woodcut artist Kent Kessinger provided a
presentation and demonstration on wood engraving
